POS 202 - Introduction to the American Legal System
Provides basic understanding of and introduction to the American Legal System including: the Illinois and federal courts systems and the concept of federalism. Emphasis on how the American legal system works, how it differs from other major legal systems, the basic elements of tort, contract, criminal and property law as well as basic criminal and civil procedure. Discussion will include current legal controversies. Course Information: Course will require participation in off-campus field trips beyond scheduled class time. Same as LES 202.
